Imagined Isle Folk Festival

Swingamajig

AN EXPERIENCE WITH…ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
The world’s greatest action star, political heavy weight and former Mr Universe, Arnold Schwarzenegger is heading to Birmingham for an exclusive black tie dinner event.
The event, An Experience with…Arnold Schwarzenegger, is taking place at the ICC with tickets going on sale on Friday 9th October priced from £95.
The event will see Schwarzenegger take part in a revealing on stage live interview with a yet to be announced celebrity host, where he will discuss his life and illustrious career than has seen him go from being the world’s greatest body builders to one of the highest political offices in the USA, via becoming one of Hollywood’s greatest action stars.
Die-hard fans are also being given the opportunity to meet their idol with the platinum ticket package worth £1500, which includes an intimate ‘meet and greet’ with Schwarzenegger for just 20 people and take a picture with the star.
Ticket holders also have the opportunity to upgrade to a photo opportunity with the star for £545.
The dinner is being organised by leading events company, Olexy Productions who have hosted a similar sell-out dinner with Schwarzenegger in Leeds in 2014. The event, which was hosted by comedian and presenter, Jonathan Ross, received rave reviews and even saw one ‘Arnie-Super Fan’ join the Terminator star on stage to propose to his girlfriend.
Born in Austria, Arnold moved to America from a young age to pursue bodybuilding. He is considered among one the most important figures in the history of sport, winning the acclaimed Mr Universe title twice and Mr Olympia, seven times.
Retiring at his peak, Schwarzenegger pursued an acting career making his debut with Conan The Barbarian. In 1984 he took on the role that would define his film career, The Terminator in what is one of the most popular action movie franchises of all time.

Christmas Lights Switch On
Calthorpe Estates is getting the festive season off to a sparkling start with this year’s Edgbaston Christmas lights switch on, which is set to take place outside St. George’s Church on Westbourne Crescent. Santa will be dropping by on his sleigh to hand out chocolate snowmen to the children, and there will be a chance to meet Mrs Claus and an Elf, in addition to feed two of his reindeer.
Rob and Katy from the 102.2 Capital FM breakfast show will be leading the countdown to the switch on, which will be performed outside the church by Gisela Stuart MP at 5.30pm.
To celebrate the event, many restaurants and bars across The Village will be offering seasonal tipples to warm up the November night. Free mulled cider, hot rum toddies and hot chocolate will be available, along with other tempting treats served by The High Field, The Edgbaston and Norjske along Highfield Road.
After the switch on, everyone is invited to head to Harborne Road, where El Borracho de Oro and The Blue Piano will be offering free drinks and tasters of their highly-acclaimed food.
There will be an opportunity to take part in a free prize draw to win an fantastic ‘Edgbaston Experience’ for 2 people to include a round of golf at Edgbaston Golf Club, day passes to Edgbaston Priory Club, a meal at The High Field, Spa Beauty package, theatre tickets and overnight stay at the Marriott.
