Discovering Lisel exhibition opens

Photographer who fled Nazi Germany and rebuilt her career in Birmingham

Guests gathered at the Library of Birmingham for the launch of Discovering Lisel Haas, a new exhibition celebrating the life and work of the German-born photographer who rebuilt her career in Birmingham after fleeing Nazi Germany in 1938. The exhibition, which was attended by members of Lisel Haas’s family, artists, project partners and supporters, was opened by Lord-Lieutenant Derrick Anderson CBE. The archive offers a fascinating glimpse into Haas’s life, her work and the people, places and moments she captured through her lens. Discovering Lisel Haas is free to visit at the Library of Birmingham and runs until 12 December.
