Aria Restaurant, Hyatt Regency Birmingham

You probably know this already, you savvy lot, but the Hyatt has a Bottomless Brunch on a Sunday. The minute we got wind of it, naturally we were all over it.

We were driving so we didn’t let loose with the unlimited fizz, but you could if you fancied. They call it brunch but in truth it encompasses everything from eggs benedict and waffles to full-on roast beef and chicken tikka. It’s more brunner than brunch.

The Hyatt atrium is a gorgeous place to be regardless of being fed and watered to this extent, but it’s particularly appealing with tables laden with goodies. It’s a buffet scenario so you help yourself although there are elements such as pasta and waffles that are cooked to order and roast beef that’s freshly carved. We sampled a huge array of food – too much to mention here, so we’ll pick out our top dishes.

We started with an excellent beetroot, feta and walnut salad, zingy old school prawn cocktail and roasted veggies. A smoky pulled beef brisket flatbread with BBQ sauce was top drawer as was a chicken tikka version with a punchy coriander yogurt sauce. Lip-smacking roast beef was cooked perfectly with a proudly puffed up yorkie with rich gravy and the pasta was particularly good too. We went with the chef’s recommendation of penne with a cheese sauce with pesto. It was superb.

The same chef rustled up crowd-pleasing waffles the size of our faces served with fresh berries and warm chocolate sauce. Mini waffle cones filled with white chocolate were delicious of which we snaffled an obscene amount.

While we love a relaxed Sunday lunch at home, this felt like a real treat. The Bottomless Brunch is available from £30 per person with bottomless drinks and Champagne packages available too. It’s a pretty good deal that results in absolutely zero washing up and plenty of feel good vibes.
