Town Hall welcome masterpiece

Hundreds of art-lovers see unveiling of historic Town Hall watercolour

Art-loving VIPs turned out in force at Town Hall to celebrate the ‘home-coming’ of an historical and treasured watercolour of the building. An audience of hundreds attended the unveiling of the picture painted by W Harris in 1831 which has been loaned to the Town Hall for permanent public display by Assay Office Birmingham. The work is the artist’s impression of the Town Hall which was part the plans for the building by the architects. It will be placed in the Joseph Hansom Suite where it can be viewed during public tours.
