Wing Yip searches for a future star with a real taste for Oriental food

The flour was flying and the temperature was going off the scale at the Wing Yip Oriental Cookery Young Chef of the Year competition held at the University College Birmingham. It was the third year that Wing Yip, the Birmingham-based UK-leading Oriental grocer, had sponsored the contest to find the best 18 to 25-year-old chef from 15 finalists from across the UK with a real flair for Pan Asian flavours. Judges included Brum’s own Michelin-starred celebrity chef Glynn Purnell and Larkin Cen, the 2013 MasterChef finalist.
