Museum receives top heritage award

Ceremony marks success of Birmingham’s new history galleries

The new History galleries at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery have been recognised by Birmingham Civic Society as the city’s most successful heritage project of 2013 at a special ceremony. A plaque to mark the presentation of the Renaissance Award from the Civic Society was unveiled by the Lady Mayoress, Pauline Leddy and chairman of Birmingham Museums, Steve Freer. The galleries – charting Birmingham’s history from its origins with Peter de Birmingham and the pivotal role it has played in creating and shaping our modern world – have attracted more than 250,000 visitors since opening.
