Stars turn out in force to light up fairways at Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship

Sunny Nailcote Hall was once again the scene for an extravaganza of great golf by day and partying by night at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship. Hosted by golfing legend Tony Jacklin, the championship began with a day of Celeb-Am action with a host of stars out on course including Ashes-winning cricketer Jonny Bairstow, Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, former Westlife singer Brian McFadden and Olympians Derek Redmond and Mark Foster. Sky Sports soccer pundit Alan McInally won the first Celeb-Am day while the leading team was Social Golfer. The day concluded with a Welcome Ball hosted by comedian Dominic Holland. European Senior Tour star Barry Lane held off former Open champion Paul Lawrie to win the Pro-Am Championship, which featured the likes of Tommy Horton, Gary Wolstenholme and Des Smyth, as well as Ladies European Tour stars Carly Booth, Alex Peters and Charley Hull. The Championship concluded with a second Celeb-Am tournament which featured the F1 pairing of Johnny Herbert and Damon Hill, as well as Coronation Street star William Roache and ex-England footballer Peter Shilton. Once again, Alan McInally emerged victorious while the leading team was Tiger Foods. A Charity Gala Ball raised funds for Rainbows Hospice for young people.
