Council garden stuns Chelsea

Birmingham’s award-winning garden wins celebrities’ vote

The stars came out in force to admire and praise Birmingham City Council’s superb floral tribute in memory of those who fought in World War One. Staff from the council’s parks department teamed up with the Royal British Legion and national charity Thrive to create the gold award-winning garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. The display, which depicted in flowers warfare in the trenches and in the air, also won the RHS President’s Award, the first time Birmingham has received the special honour in 27 years of exhibiting at Chelsea.
