British Par 3 Championship

Night and day… Nailcote Hall provides perfect setting as celebrities have a ball

Stars from the world of entertainment and sport came together for a four-day extravaganza of golf at Nailcote Hall. By day, the golfing professionals competed in the £100,000 Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship while the celebrities dusted off their clubs and took part in Celeb-Am events. By night, they came together for three fabulous gala balls – one featuring cricketing great Sir Garfield Sobers – raising money for the local Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People charity. Leading the golf pros for the sixth year running were Ryder Cup greats Tony Jacklin and Ian Woosnam, who were also joined by former Open Champion Paul Lawrie. Celebrities included Olympic swimmer Mark Foster, comedian Jasper Carrott, Strictly Come Dancing’s Len Goodman, Ashes-winning cricketer Matthew Hoggard, Coronation Street’s William Roache, rugby World Cup winner Neil Back, England football legend Peter Shilton and actor Jamie Foreman. The British Par 3 championship title was won by young European Tour star Eddie Pepperell.
