Botanical Garden Annual Ball boosts appeal

TV’s James Wong joins supporters at Botanical Gardens fund-raiser

Supporters of Birmingham Botanical Gardens turned out in style at the annual Trustees’ Ball, raising funds for refurbishment work to the glasshouses. Nearly 200 guests were serenaded on arrival by retro girl band the Glamophones. After-dinner speaker, TV broadcaster James Wong, entertained with stories of his travels and stressed the importance of botanical gardens in science and education. Dancing was to the sounds of the Subterraneans. The Gardens’ Glasshouse Appeal was launched in 2014 to help raise £1million.
